Paula from Paula's Hot Biscuits!
Thanks for a wonderful breakfast! We woke up thinking we needed a huge meal and we totally got what we asked for! The food was excellent and the company was even better! Although we don't expect to be treated so well all the time, the words "it's on the house" were so appreciated! Thank you so much!

The Mission Group from Georgia
You all were so kind and generous! Thank you so much for allowing us to share the gym and eat with you! We feel so blessed to have met each and every one of you! You all went out of your way to make us feel at home (even though it wasn't even YOUR home) and we really appreciate that! Thank you to the paramedic who looked at my shin and gave me the antibiotic cream!

Beth at Rural Retreat Camp Ground
The day we spent at Rural Retreat was very wet. It rained all night and all day. When we were trying to pack up camp and get our bikes out of the rain mine decided to fall and bite me which resulted in a trip to the hospital. Beth, a camper spending the week with her family at Rural Retreat, gave us a ride! She was so nice and we really appreciate the kindness she showed for us in a time of need. Being a mother of three I am sure she will understand when I say my mom would probably hug her for the good deed she did for us today. Knowing that there are kindhearted people out there motivates us more to continue on our journey.

Susan who we met at the grocery store!
We were outside the grocery store stuffing our faces with food (so polite, I know), when Susan came up and introduced herself. We had a great chat about our trip and how it was going and about her business! She owns a Motorcycle touring company and a raceway! If anyone is interested in a motorcycle tour through Costa Rica, I can totally hook you up with the right person to talk too!

Cecil at Troutville Park
Joe was literally about to pass out when we met Cecil in his "park maintenance" truck... what a savor! He was so hospitable and friendly and let us stay right underneath the pavilion (which had electricity) to the bathrooms! At night he even came back to make sure we were settled in and we had a nice long chat! When he was younger he motorcycled across country and he told us some fun stories! Thanks so much for letting us stay for FREE!!
We were also able to meet some nice hikers from the Appalachian trail!

Misty Mountain Camp Resort
So when we looked at the radar and there was a lot of red angry blobs heading towards our location (sever thunderstorms) we called it quits early in the day and headed to this campsite about a mile off route. We set up our tent quickly, unpacked our gear and put it under the rain fly, and put our bikes under a tree. We were able to take a hot shower and hide from the rain in the community room (complete with pool table!) We charged our phones and had free Wi-Fi.
Thanks Misty Mountain Camp Resort, definitely a place to return too!

The "peach lady" at Chiles Peach Orchard
While biking we headed into some pretty major storms! Chiles Peach Orchard was our oasis from the rain! In retrospect we feel very bad that we forgot to ask the "peach ladies" name and if she told it to us we definitely forgot, but for now we will call her the "peach lady". We got to the market right as it started to down pour and she welcomed us in with open arms! She even offered to drive us to the campsite if it continued raining! We bought some fresh peaches (which were actually amazing) and hid from the rain for an hour or so. As we sat she offered us a fresh donut...still hot!
She was so friendly and easy to talk too! Thank you so much for helping us out and giving us directions to the campsite once the rain let up!

Steve- the biker on his way to work
While leaving Charlottesville early in the morning we met Steve! He was on his way to work and we rode together for a few miles just chatting about our trip. Before he took his turn to work he handed us 20 dollars for a hot shower and some nice food. Thanks Steve! Since we were biking the whole time we never got a chance to give him our blog and he will probably never see this, but if you are reading this right now say a quick prayer for Steve and his family. The world needs more nice, friendly people like him!

Alexander House in Charlottesville, VA
Thanks for putting us up for the night! This hostel was definitely a treat! We shared a room with 5 other people complete with a bathroom, showers, and a little kitchenette stocked for breakfast! We met Theresa who was traveling from SC to PA to visit family, and we had dinner with her at a local pub nearby. The hostel was very eco-friendly complete with solar panels, recycling, compost, etc. We enjoyed a nice breakfast of locally made jam and bread from a bakery down the street. What a great experience for our first hostel!

Mineral, VA Volunteer Fire Department
Thanks for a GREAT first night! We were completely spoiled with a nice field to camp in, bathrooms, showers, and laundry. The firefighters were so hospitable, friendly, and easy to talk too! They even invited us inside if it started to rain! We had a great night sleep in our tent and were able to cook a nice dinner and breakfast!
