Surfs up dude! Welcome to California, state number 12, but technically we only biked in 6 of those! Today was a very exciting day! We made it to the Golden state! We also saw our first real live elk! We have been seeing signs for "ELK" since Kentucky but we never actually saw one until today! THEY ARE HUGE!!!! We saw them just chilling in someone's back yard sunning themselves. We were riding by and I thought to myself... "my what weird statues", then I saw their mouths move and their heads turn! I stopped so fast I think Joe ran into my bike!!
We also met up with some of our biker friends that we met a few days ago at a campsite! I forgot to mention that one of them looks alarmingly like Elijah Wood (Frodo). When I met him I said "you must get this all the time but you look just like..." and he interrupted with "yeah I get that all the time". bahahhahaha so funny! Anyway he didn't give me an autograph but he did let me take a picture!
The campsite that we are staying at tonight is literally right on the water! We had an excellent view of another flawless west coast sunset and there are tons of seals!!! We see their heads pop up in the water and sometimes they even jump out. There is a whole lot of them on the beach across from us and they make a weird grumbling sound! If you get a chance look up what a seal sounds like... it's hilarious! Although I do hope it doesn't sound like this all night...
Today we stopped at a farmers market and picked up fresh corn, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. We started a fire to roast the corn and we are making burritos with beans and cheese over the fire! YUM!
