Finally off the bus and back to cycling! We decided to have a light day because with a full week of absolutely no exercise we expected to be tired and sore!
We got off the bus in Portland and we instantly loved the city! Granted we were pretty sick of cities at this point so we really didn't linger, but the parts that we did see were really nice!
It's only karma that we had to climb a huge hill to get out of the city! I was out of breath and I felt out of shape (I think Joe did too but he wouldn't admit it)! We weren't feeling the greatest but we decided that was because we hadn't eaten well in the past few days so we went to a grocery store ASAP! We chowed down on yogurt, apples, carrot sticks, peanut butter sandwiches, and granola bars! We felt a lot better after that!!!
We entered a state forest and instantly fell in love with it! Oregon is by far our favorite state so far on our trip!! We didn't even mind that we climbed for most of the afternoon because it was so pretty! We calculated that we had a 1500 foot climb today!
When we were ready to call it quits we found a campground that was at the bottom of a valley right next to a cute creek! There were no showers unfortunately but we were able to sponge off and wash our hair at least!! We were so tired that we made dinner (tortellini) and went straight to bed! We are planning to sleep late tomorrow morning to catch up on some ZZZZZ's and get our bodies used to Pacific Time!
Tomorrow we will get to the coast, can't wait to see that Pacific Ocean!!!

PS Mom, I'm still alive.
