Well, it was bound to happen, we got lost today. We were so happy to be out of the mountains and back to rolling hills that we flat out missed our turn by a few miles. Luckily we both have smart phones so we were able to get back on route in no time at all.
Each of us have our good and bad days. Sometimes I feel great and Joe's just feeling okay or vise versa. There are days when I feel like I could cycle 20 more miles and days where I want to go to bed at 5pm. Today we both felt like crap. Our muscles hurt, our butts hurt worse, and it was scorching hot with little to no shade. It just wasn't our day.
We cycled past a group of kids probably around 9 or 10 years of age and they asked "what are you doing?", so we responded, "cycling across the country". The looks on their faces were priceless as they said "wohhh". Yeah... that's still kind of how I feel. We are already in state #2 and it still doesn't feel real to me that we are cycling across the country. I guess when we get to the west coast it will hit me.
I would write more... but I'm cranky because I'm hungry.
Mary and Joe
PS Mom, I'm still alive.
PPS Keep those submissions coming for the "what kind of vegetarian am I?" contest! I'm going to make a poll and you guys can choose the best word!
