Last night we were able to sleep in air conditioning! We were in a community center at a town park! Joe was in heaven and I was in the artic! Since we were inside we were able to pack up camp really fast and decided to go out for breakfast. Everyone in town was telling us about Paula’s Hot Biscuits, a local
breakfast place. We had the best breakfast (Joe had biscuits and gravy and I had pancakes) and when we went to pay she said it was on the house! Thanks Paula! I think this establishment was featured on the food network too!!
We were on the road about 40 minutes earlier than we usually are, so by noon we had already done about 40 miles! We stopped for an epic lunch! We made triple decker peanut butter and jelly (jelly on each side of the inside slice of bread and peanut butter on the outside slices) with pretzel M&Ms in the middle. It was actually one of the best things in the world, mostly because of all the great combinations of food in one bite. Consider all of these combinations: peanut butter and red raspberry jelly, peanut butter and pretzels, peanut butter and chocolate, red raspberry jelly and chocolate…. Etc. It was amazing because you just can’t go wrong with all of those combinations!
As we were cycling we saw a 30 foot tall dino! (Don’t worry it wasn’t real!) We soon realized we were passing right through Dinosaur World, so of course we stopped, took pictures, and had a fun pit stop! We decided to buy a friend, Dave the Dino, our little orange dino who will now accompany us to the west coast! We decided to make a fun game out of it called Discovering Dave the Dino! Every day in our daily picture we will hide Dave the Dino! Your job is to discover him!!!! (It’s pretty straight forward) I LOVE GAMES!!!
We soon arrived at Mammoth Cave’s National Park in the midafternoon. We set up camp and toured the visitor’s center. We bought tickets to tour the caves tomorrow, our day off. We even splurged and bought the makings of S'MORES!!!! We are actually so excited to sleep late, have a day off, and have more fun!!!
As we were looking at our phones we were totally confused about the time!? We didn’t realize, but mid-morning we passed through a time zone! Welcome to central time! We are now an hour behind! We are excited because now it will be dark earlier so we CAN actually go to bed at 8pm and it will be light earlier so we can get on the road around 5:30!!
We had a great night making friends with the campers at the site next to us! They offered us a glass of wine and before you know it we were over there all night talking and having a great time! Such a good end to a great day! Can't wait for our cave tour tomorrow!
Perfect!
